2020 was a year the world will not forget, we were challenged with a global pandemic, a great deal of loss and a new way of doing everyday life for each person on this beautiful planet. Here at Zozu Project we are beyond grateful for our donors who continue to support the Project during these challenging times. Our Ugandan staff were incredible, they shifted from teaching in their classrooms daily to being on foot to each of their students homes, to physically give them their homework packets and instruction.
In spite of the challenges, together we were able to hire an additional social worker (Prossy), meet immediate needs with food distrubution to families and graduate a class onto secondary school. Wait there is more, you raised funds for a new preschool playground, textbooks, storybooks and a new library and teachers study. We are filled with gratitude and our hearts give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ and to each of you!
Meet Prossy our new Social Worker at Solid Rock Christan Academy, she brings a wealth of knowledge in counseling and organization. She is passionate about working with children of all ages in order to help them achieve their full potential and help them feel happier and better about themselves. She is grateful to God for giving her a job in Zozu project and above all being part of the Zozu team.
Zozu staff distributed emergency food supplies to families who were out of work. After the distrubution, Joan, a sixth grader, said “I am most thankful for the support that you have given me. You have paid my school fees and even given us food during this corona period. Thank you very much.”
The bus is ready to be loaded with recent graduates and off to boarding school in Kompala. Interesting fact, Kompala is an 8 hour bus ride from the students hometown in Arua.
Preschool playground that was constructed during Covid 19 outbreak, what joy for the students as they traveled by the school and witnessed a colorful playground just for them.
The new textbooks and storybooks arrive, not only is this such a gift for the students but think about the teaching staff who have been sharing books for years. They now have new material to glean from and pass on to the students.
The Library and staff lounge is almost finished! The new library will be a wonderful resource full of the new textbooks, storybooks, and computer. The staff lounge will be an area where the teachers can plan their lessons, collaborate and will house the new photocopier.
