President Museveni

On September 22, 2021, President Museveni addressed the nation in regards to the current Covid-19 lockdown. He noted that transmission rates in the country have continued to decline. However, some districts continue to show increased rates.

With the current information on the virus, he said all universities and other post-secondary education institutions should re-open on November 1, along with churches. However, primary and secondary schools shall remain closed until January 1, 2022. He hopes to have all the teachers fully vaccinated before children return to school.

He said the government aimed to vaccinate around 4.8 million people by the end of the year. A total of 12 million doses of the vaccine are expected to have been brought into the country by the end of the year, most of them donations from other nations.
