Home Teaching and Learning Continues

Following the President’s directive in March 2020 to close all the schools in order to control the spread of covid 19, all the students at Solid Rock remained with no option apart from staying at home.

In order to keep the students focused and not to lose hope, the staff came up with a fruitful idea of carrying out home schooling. Under this program, every morning a teacher is assigned a few students to visit, to counsel, to encourage and to teach.

At least 120 students are targeted every day. Special thanks goes to ZOZU project that support this program, the teachers that work tirelessly in preparing, distributing, guiding and marking the study materials.

Great thanks also goes to our dear donors: Lacey Stewart, Garry Stewart and Sally Briggs that donated bicycles to each member of the staff to ease their work of reaching individual students during this lockdown.

Library Equipped with more Bibles and Storybooks

One big lesson learned from the outbreak of Covid 19 as far as education is concerned is the need to promote independent / self-learning among the students, in order to cope up with the new education trends. As a result, the idea of setting up a new well equipped library was thought of. The ZOZU and some donors helped in its establishment, and the work of equipping it with good curriculum books began. Recently, more donor funds for more story books and bibles were received and books stocked. Donors like The Highlands VBS, Pastors Kenny Jones and James Baird will always be remembered and blessed whenever a kid picks a book to read at Solid Rock.

Relief Food Distributed to Zozu Students

All the ZOZU students were supported with food items to help them survive during this lockdown. Every student received food items like maize flour, beans, cooking oil, ETC the students, parents and the entire community is always grateful for The ZOZU board and our Director Pastor JP for this commendable work.

Teachers Vaccinated with the First Dose Against Covid 19

In order to control the spread of Covid 19, and to prepare for the general reopening of schools, the teachers at Solid Rock have been looking for any opportunity to get vaccinated. As per now, almost all the teachers have been vaccinated with the first dose. We pray that by the end of the year 2021, all the teachers will be fully vaccinated.
